Iraq without Rivers because of Turkey and Iran
These rivers are so important to human life!
In light of the world’s preoccupation with the events of Corona, the people of Iraq suffer from the severe water shortage in the Tigris and Euphrates because of Turkey, which reduced the water share for Iraq, and considered that the Tigris and Euphrates are not international rivers and are not subject to international agreements regarding the quota for the distribution of river water. On the other hand, Iran diverted the flow of water flowing from Turkey to Iraq towards its lands, causing the rivers to dry up quickly.
Many activists shared pictures and video clips of the situation of the two dry rivers and their impact on agricultural crops and livestock in Iraq and in light of the preoccupation and absence of the international community, Turkey and Iran are still insisting on reducing water shares in order to build their dams and projects on the banks of the river and ignoring Iraqi people.
Activists and media outlets expressed their anger at the provocative Turkish and Iranian practices towards their country, calling on their government to intervene urgently to confront the drought of the Tigris River and prevent the humanitarian catastrophe that is looming on the horizon.
